We’re a group of food crazy, travel loving MMA and fitness enthusiasts. Our mission is to showcase the world in its awesomeness, particularly Asia, and have fun along the way.

In a nutshell, “Team Buffet” is your wacky one-stop shop for recipes, travel topics, and fitness advice.

It all started in Taipei, Taiwan, one of Asia’s great food meccas. When brothers Mark and Frank Striegl were traversing the city, their good friend Justin took them to every single food buffet in town. Every single one. While in Taipei, the 3 of them were deciding on what name would be suitable for their MMA team. At one particular buffet meal, the light shone down on them in between mouthfuls of dim sum…and “Team Buffet” was born.

A grappler by trade and a master of the kitchen, Mark is part Yokozuna, part Jamie Oliver. Weight and nutrition management is central to a fighter’s career and Mark takes this aspect of the game very seriously. When he’s not preparing for a fight though, don’t ever take his lasagna away from him.

Justin knows the restaurant business inside out, as his family owns a chain of bakeries and restaurants in Taiwan (Aunt Stella’s).

If we were all sausage links, Justin would be the final bratwurst on the chain, the ship’s anchor. He also happens to be the size of a ship – standing at 6’2 and weighing in at 200 pounds.

Yuji “The Beast” HoshinoYuji “The Beast” Hoshino

Yuji is a Japanese MMA legend, at one point ranked in the world’s top 10 in his weight division. Yuji no doubt enjoys his food, as he started his career at welterweight (77 kg) but eventually found his permanent home all the way down at featherweight (66 kg).

If you grappled with Yuji, you’d probably wonder what he ate as a child. Doing so is like trying to pull a freight train.
